Dubai Metro Red Line Timing and Stations
At the moment, Dubai Metro runs two main lines. The Dubai Metro Red Line is the first, and the Dubai Metro Green Line is the second. We’ll talk about the Red Line here.
Although work on the Dubai Metro Red Line was underway when it was inaugurated in 2009, it was not yet finished. Construction began in 2005. The project, including the Green Line, is expected to cost approximately 7.6 billion US dollars. The average cost of this line is approximately 102.2 million US dollars per kilometer. By mid-2010, the construction was deemed finished. It included 29 stations in all, which were progressively opened in stages between 2009 and 2011.
Rashidiya in the east of Dubai is where the Dubai Metro Red Line route begins, while Jebel Ali in the west is where it terminates. It travels alongside Sheikh Zayed Road for the majority of its course. The longest driverless metro line in the world, measuring 52.1 km in total length, is this one. In 2011, Guinness World Records presented the record. Union and BurJuman stations are the two transfer stations where the Red Line and Green Line meet. Passengers may change lines at these transfer stations if they so want.
Of the 29 stations on the Dubai Metro Red Line, four are underground, 24 are raised, and just one is at ground level. On this line, the average speed is roughly 47 km/h, and the projected total trip time is 70 minutes. This line’s trains may accelerate to a top speed of 110 km/h. Every station has a 20- to 30-second train halt. Over 4 kilometers of the 52.1-kilometer route are underground. The average transit time between the stations is between 60 and 90 seconds. On this track, the Road and Transportation Authority (RTA) runs roughly 27 trains during off-peak hours and 29 during peak hours. The most recent data shows that Red Line had 35 trains in 2019, with 15 more planned by the end of the year.
The location of the Dubai Metro Red Line extension was announced at the end of 2015, and the project was completed by the middle of 2019. At the start of 2020, the “Route 2020” project will get underway. With this 14.2-kilometer project, the Red Line will be extended from Expo 2020 to Nakheel Harbor. Two of the seven new stations will be underground, and five will be elevated. Additionally, the Road and Transportation Authority (RTA) has earned almost two billion dirhams by securing sponsors for the stations from nearby businesses. According to estimates from the Road and Transportation Authority (RTA), each station has made between 90 and 100 million dirhams. Additionally, a second extension of the Red Line from Rashidiya to Mirdif is proposed.
